P. 1414/49" The letter was signed by 20 Penang sugar wholesalers, most with their company stamps Enclosed a list of 22 licensed wholesalers dealing in sugar, including Ban Hin Lee The contents of the letter include: (1) Informed the present distribution of sugar by Messrs. Guthrie & Co. Ltd. is unsatisfactory and detrimental to them, (2) Requested that sugar distribution by Messrs. Guthrie & Co. Ltd. should be made directly to the present wholesalers who will then resell to licensed retailers, (3) Informed that they were prepared to tender banker's cheques and cash for purchase of sugar against delivery orders, and on no account they should pay in the cash on Messrs. Guthrie's behalf into his bank |
