Abstract |
Although rapid economic development has long been a cornerstone of the Singaporean experience, the primary focus in this editorial introduction is the relationship between Singapore's neoliberal economy and its postcolonial history. This special issue on Singapore comes at the height of its global economic reputation and at a moment when its cultural production increasingly interrogates the intersections of social inequality, capital and migrant labour. Our introduction and our contributors' essays both map and interrogate Singapore as an exceptional yet indicative space where national, postcolonial and global discourses intersect in both determinative and discordant ways. |
