Abstract |
The specimen (Fig. 2) was preserved and deposited in the Zoological Reference Collection of the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research at the National University of Singapore under the catalogue number ZRC 2.7002. The beaded sea-snake is a fully aquatic marine reptile which apparently lives on a specialized diet of fish eggs that are laid on the substrate (Das, 2010: 318) |

Abstract |
The bearded leatherjacket was originally described from Singapore by Gray (1830-35). Unlike most other monacanthids which are rhomboid in shape, it has a very slender, laterally compressed body and a prominent pointed fleshy protruberance from its lower jaw (see accompanying photograph). Growing to a maximum recorded size of 30 cm, it is generally brownish with white stripes on the body, but mottled brown reticulation pattern is also known and can be seen on the specimen illustrated here. This species inhabits open muddy bottoms of estuaries and coastal bays, and appears to mimic mangrove propagule shoots, sea-pens and probably sea-grass (Allen & Erdmann, 2012). Anacanthus barbatus was previously recorded from Changi Point Beach by Kwik et al. (2010). |

Abstract |
This species has been reported in Singapore waters by Khoo & Tay (1990 as Paraglyphidodon nigroris), Low & Chou (1992) and Sin et al. (1994). Adult Behn’s damselfish are dusky brown throughout, or yellow posteriorly; with yellowish pectoral fin base, a black bar on the gill cover, and another blackish bar below the eye. Juveniles are bright yellow with two black stripes over the body. This species occurs from the eastern Andaman Sea through Indonesia to Palau, Vanuatu, Australia and New Caledonia, north to Japan and the Ogasawara Islands (Allen & Erdmann, 2012: 604). |
