Abstract |
The crested honey buzzard is a common migrant and rare visitor to Singapore. This raptor specialises in feeding on bee and hornet larvae and beeswax which are obtained by tearing hives apart (Yong et al., 2016: 33). However, the honey buzzard is not restricted to this diet, as it also hunts and eats large insects, reptiles, small birds and mammals (Myers, 2009: 46). Apparently the honeycomb eating behaviour featured here is not frequently observed. |

Abstract |
Two subspecies of the crested honey buzzard (also known as the eastern or Oriental honey buzzard) occur in Singapore. One is an uncommon resident while the other is a common winter visitor and passage migrant (Lim, 2009: 214). The example featured here seems to be the dark morph of the migrant subspecies Pernis ptilorhynchus orientalis. Honey buzzards are specialist feeders of bee and hornet larvae and beeswax but are known to opportunistically take reptiles, frogs, small mammals and birds (Ferguson-Lees & Christie, 2001: 345). The crow’s distrust and mobbing of the honey buzzard therefore, seems justified |

Abstract |
The crested serpent eagle occurs in Singapore both as a very rare resident and a non-breeding visitor from neighbouring areas. It is found mainly in forest and old plantations, and is a well-known predator of reptiles, particularly tree snakes (Yong et al., 2013: 36) |

Abstract |
The purpose of this application is to conserve the current usage of the name for the free-living soil nematode genus Criconema Hofmanner & Menzel, 1914. Most workers have accepted as a valid type species designation the tentative statement by Stiles & Hassall (1920) that Eubostrichus guernei Certes, 1889 'should probably be type' of Criconema, but this does not satisfy Article 67.5.3 of the Code. The valid designation is by Micoletzky (1925) who designated Criconema morgense Hofmanner & Menzel, 1914. Taylor (1936) designated this same species as type of his new genus Criconemoides, thereby making it a junior objective synonym of Criconema. It is proposed that current usage of Criconema and Criconemoides be maintained by designation of Eubostrichus guernei as type species of Criconema |
