A new species of semiterrestrial freshwater crab, Badistemon nanensis, is described from northern Thailand, some 750 km from its nearest reported congener. The new species is diagnosed primarily by the unique form of the gonopod I and II, the degree of fusion in the anterior thoracic sternites, the form of male pleon somite VI, the male telson, and the form of the chelipeds. This new species is only known from the type locality. In addition, this new species was found to co-occur with Indochinamon bhumibol (Naiyanetr, 2001), which represents a 350-km range extension for that species. Both crabs are important local foods for humans.

A new sparoid fish, Gymnocranius elongatus is reported from the southern South China Sea and the sea off the coast of the northwestern Australia.The fish described by Bleeker (1877) under the name of G. griseus is considered to belong to the present species. A detailed comparison of the species with another Gymnocroanius species, which is the commonest fish among the genus in the South China Sea and has been usually identified as G. griseus (Temminck and Schlegel), is given. Need for a future study on the specific name of the latter is suggested.

Laotia luongi, new species, and Laotia christahemmenae phami, new subspecies, are described from Sơn La Province, northern Vietnam. The new species is similar to L. christahemmenae in size and shape, but differs from it in the widely-spaced, straight ribs and the presence of ribs behind the peristome. Laotia christahemmenae phami, new subspecies, differs from the nominotypical subspecies in the more elevated spire and narrower umbilicus. The operculum of Laotia christahemmenae phami, new subspecies, bears an elevated lamina on its outer surface. This represents the first report of a Laotia operculum.

A new species, Passiena bayi, is described from Laos based on both sexes. The new species is related to P. spinicrus Thorell, 1890 and P. torbjoerni Lehtinen, 2005 occurring in Malaysia and Thailand, respectively. The first detailed, illustrated description of the male palp and endogyne of the Passiena species is provided. Four other species of wolf spiders, Hippasa holmerae Thorell, 1895, Ovia macritchie Lu, Koh, Zhang et Li, 2018, Pardosa pseudoannulata (Bösenberg & Strand, 1906), and Pardosa pusiola (Thorell, 1891) are reported from Laos for the first time
