Abstract |
The species identification is tentative for the animal was not observed up close. Kerivoula hardwickii is the only species of woolly bat known thus far from Singapore Island where it was first discovered in 2008. There, it seems to be confined to the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, and has been obtained in harp traps at Upper Peirce, Upper Seletar and Chestnut Track (Leong & Lim, 2009: 87). The present record is the first from Lower Peirce, and also the first to be observed at a roost, unusually a rather exposed one. The species is known to roost in hollow trees and among clumps of dead leaves (Francis, 2008: 255) |

Abstract |
The harlequin cockroach is a strikingly marked and flightless domiciliary pest that is found in tropical areas of the world, and is believed to be of Asian origin (Beccaloni, 2007). It has been recorded in Singapore since 1915 (Hanitsch, 1915: 105 as Stylopyga rhombifolia), but is hardly noticed and is not among the six species of cockroach in Singapore households mentioned by Teo (1990: 177-179). The present record shows that this species is still lurking in local buildings, although it is far less common than the American cockroach (Periplaneta americana) |

Abstract |
Osteochilus vittatus has been recorded as a non-native species in Singapore’s reservoirs (Ng & Tan, 2010) and more recently in the same stream channel (Tan, 2013). The examples depicted in Tan (2013) show the typical colour pattern without a broad black longitudinal stripe. It appears that some Osteochilus vittatus are able to display this black stripe at will. The Tilapia buttikoferi has been recorded from Upper Peirce Reservoir (Ng & Tan, 2010), and the present individual was most probably flushed out of there. This alien species has not been recorded from MacRitchie Reservoir, but seems likely to colonise it, if it has not already done so. |

Apparently an introduced species that could have been carried over to Singapore via raw water piped in from Johor (Ng & Tan, 2010). This fish, previously known as Osteochilus hasselti, is a common species in large river basins throughout Southeast Asia |

Abstract |
Osteochilus vittatus has been recorded as a non-native species in Singapore’s reservoirs (Ng & Tan, 2010). The specimens featured here appear to be sexually dimorphic. The male (Fig. 1) has brighter reddish-orange dorsal, caudal, anal and pelvic fins compared to the female (Fig. 2). Also, the upper lobe of the male’s caudal fin is longer, and the upper region of the eyes is bright red. |

Abstract |
Widely distributed in Southeast Asia, this relatively large jumping spider is usually found on foliage near mangrove swamps and occasionally on waste-land (Koh, 1989: 108; Ng & Sivasothi, 1999: 95). It has been photographed in the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve (Chua, 2010: 93) and at Semakau Landfill (Ng, 2012: 65). This record is in an urban setting, and on a man-made structure. |
