This is the second report of a species only recently recorded from Singapore. The first record (without additional details or photographs) was from Keppel Bay Marina by Lam & Todd (2013: 200). Prior to their record, Pseudostomatella decolorata and Stomatia phymotis were the only two other species of the trochid subfamily Stomatellinae known from Singapore (Tan & Woo, 2010)

The specimen had previously been identified as Turbo petholatus. Turbo marmoratus was first recorded from Singapore (as “Turbo cochlus”) by Traill (1847). It is apparently very rare in Singapore waters, and there appears to have been no confirmed records since. An operculum of this species was figured by K. S. Tan & Chou (2000), who also remarked that Turbo marmoratus “is probably absent in Singapore waters today”. The figured specimen provides a vouchered confirmation of the presence of this species in Singapore

he poorly known butid gudgeon Pogoneleotris heterolepis is redescribed based on 15 specimens obtained from fish markets and local fishers from 1982 to 2018, plus examination of the holotype. It is unique among butids in having a longitudinal papilla pattern and the preopercular canal continuous with the oculoscapular canal and is one of only two gobioids (other than Rhyacichthys and Terateleotris) known to have this latter condition
