The keel-bellied whip snake is listed as nationally ‘critically endangered’ (Lim, 2008: 264). It inhabits mature forest in the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, Central Catchment Nature Reserve, Pulau Ubin and Pulau Tekong (Baker & Lim, 2012: 102). This is apparently the first record of this species from the western part of Singapore Island

Dryophiops rubescens is diurnally active and in Singapore, inhabits forests in the Bukit Timah and Central Catchment Nature Reserves, as well as on Pulau Ubin and Pulau Tekong (Baker & Lim, 2012: 102). In 2013, an example of this snake was recorded from the edge of the Western Catchment Area (Chua, 2014). Dryophiops rubescens is known to feed on lizards (Baker & Lim, 2012: 102), and this observation shows that Draco sumatranus is included in its diet.
